Ipecac root extract | Carapichea ipecacuanha
The Ipecac (Ipecacuanhae) belongs to the family of the Rubiaceae and is native to Brazil. It grows here in the light forests of tropical Brazil. It is a shrub that can reach up to 40 cm in height.

The medical use of Ipecacuanhae began in the 17th century. A Portuguese botanist discovered the plant in Brazil and brought it to Europe. Due to its strong emetic effect, ipecac quickly became well-known and was recognized in numerous countries as a significant remedy for treating poisonings.
